Tamara de Lempicka

Born into a wealthy family, the beautiful and unconventional Polish painter met Gabriele D'Annunzio in 1925. The poet, in fact, considered one of the greatest exponents of the literature of the twentieth century, had a great passion for beautiful women and several letters, on hotel letterhead, testify to a playful and friendly relationship between Tamara and Gabriele. During her Italian stays, Tamara divided her time between the Vittoriale (D'Annunzio's residence in Desenzano) and the Grand Hotel et de Milan, her Milanese home, where she was hosted by D'Annunzio himself. At the Vittoriale was found various material related to the Grand Hotel, including several copies of accounts of D'Annunzio's guests at the Grand Hotel. Among these also Eleonora Duse.
