Luchino Visconti

Luchino Visconti was always at home at the Grand Hotel et de Milan. It was there that business meetings took place, where people gathered to go to the premiere of La Scala, and then all lined up along Via Manzoni to go to the theater. It was also at the Grand Hotel et de Milan that Visconti summoned the young Danilo Donati, who was to become one of the most famous tailors in show business, when he was still taking his first steps in the textile industry, working as an errand boy in a fabric store in Via Montenapoleone. Having sensed his talent, Visconti met him at the hotel and propose him to move to Rome for working in a large theatrical tailor's shop, thus beginning a professional bond and friendship that would last a lifetime.
