Visconti was born minutes away from Le Grand Hotel et de Milan in his ancestral palazzo, opposite La Scala opera house. He dominated Italian cinema with films such as Death in Venice and became a luminary of the opera houses, staging La Traviata at La Scala with Maria Callas. While Visconti conducted his artistic meetings and celebrations at Grand Hotel et de Milan our lounge, bar and restaurants were teeming with glittering artistic stars. It was here Visconti sealed the career of Umberto Tirelli, one of the most expert theatrical tailors in showbusiness.
