Step through our historic doors and you are enveloped in the grandeur of our hotel. Look up the wrought iron staircase spiralling through five floors and imagine a bejewelled Maria Callas making her sweeping entrance. Walk through to our marbled lounge and picture Giuseppe Verdi pausing before a sell-out performance at La Scala. Enjoy a frisson in the ‘recording suite’ where the Great Caruso became the world’s first superstar.
We have seventy-two rooms and twenty-three suites and junior suites, as our building dates from 1800s no two are alike. We’ve decorated each with classic elegance, ensuring up to the minute technology, after all this was Milan’s first hotel to offer a telegraph service.
Our glorious Presidential Suite is named for Giuseppe Verdi who lived and composed here for 27 years. Twelve others are dedicated to the many great artists we have welcomed to our home from Caruso to Visconti.

For high end luxury brands, Via Montenapoleone begins on our doorstep while minutes away, opposite La Scala, is the magnificent Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Built in 1870s, this glorious glass domed structure encases mosaiced streets of boutiques.
The Teatro alla Scala in Milan, by order of Maria Theresa of Austria, was inaugurated in 1778 from the ruins of the church of Santa Maria della Scala, from which it takes its name. It is easy to reach Lake Como for an inspirational day amongst the dramatic scenery and high style. We can make all the arrangements for your preferred itinerary. One recommendation is a Milan train and slow ferry across the lake to Bellagio, for a relaxing lunch. Then a return with the fast ferry to Varenna and train to Milan.
Ten minutes’ walk from our hotel is the Villa Invernizzi, home to an unexpected flock of flamingos grazing on the lawns. A rather exquisite sight.
